Q . What is oxidation reaction? Give an example with equation.

Ans. A reaction in which oxygen is added to a substance is called an oxidation reaction.

As for example, When copper is heated in air it reacts with oxygen and forms a black coating over it.

Remember

i. A reaction in which hydrogen is removed from a substance is also called an oxidation reaction.

ii. A reaction in which a substance loses electron (s), is too called an oxidation reaction.
