What are isotopes of an element?

Ans. Isotopes are atoms of the same element having the same atomic number but different mass numbers.
As for example protium, deuterium and tritium are three isotopes of Hydrogen.
While all these have one proton in the nucleus of each atom, they have 0, 1 and 2 neutrons in their nucleus respectively.
