What are the differences between sexual and asexual reproduction?

Sol.
Sexual Reproduction
i. It involves participation of two separate parents (male and female).
ii. It ususally requires the formation of sex organs.
iii. Cell division involves meiosis at some stages, especially during gamete formation.
iv. Fusion with male gamete with female gamete takes place.
v. Offsprings are not genetically identical to their parents.

Asexual Reproduction
i. It involves the participation of single individual parent.
ii. It generally occurs without the formation of sex organs.
iii. Cell division takes place mitotically or amitotically.
iv. It does not involve fusion of gametes.
v. Offsprings are genetically identical to their parents.
